One of the main objectives of GF Hoteles is to achieve a 100% reduction in single-use plastic items, with the goal of cutting a total of 14 tons of plastic waste. The five establishments of our hotel chain are working together to achieve this objective.
As part of this commitment, multiple sustainable alternatives have already been implemented across our hotels in order to reduce plastic consumption and promote more environmentally responsible practices.
♻️ Packaging & Service Improvements
- Plastic bottles replaced with Tetra Brik packaging.
- PET soft drink bottles in vending machines replaced by cans.
- Plastic cups replaced by reusable cups.
- Plastic plates replaced by Kraft paper plates.
- Plastic salad bowls replaced by environmentally-friendly materials.
- Cutlery made from corn-based compostable material.
- Straws replaced by recyclable and compostable alternatives.
- Plastic wristbands replaced by cloth wristbands.
- Butter, jam and honey dispensers incorporated into buffet services.
- Plastic cup lids replaced by cardboard lids.
🌿 Sustainable Room & Operational Solutions
- Compostable rubbish bags implemented throughout operations.
- Laundry bags in rooms replaced by reusable non-woven fabric bags.
- Compostable bin liners introduced in hotel rooms.
- Progressive replacement of amenities packaging with ecological and environmentally-friendly materials.
- Dental kits, shaving kits and combs made from compostable corn-based materials.
Through these initiatives, GF Hoteles continues advancing towards a more sustainable tourism model focused on reducing waste, protecting the environment and encouraging responsible consumption throughout the guest experience.
